Acoustic monitoring and surveillance
Industrial, logistics and energy activities can generate noise emissions that can have an impact on neighbors, employees and the environment. In a demanding regulatory context, noise level control cannot be based solely on one-off measurement campaigns.
Acoustic monitoring provides an appropriate response through continuous, real-time monitoring of noise emissions. It enables measured levels to be objectified, trends to be analyzed, configurable alerts to be triggered in the event of exceedance, and usable reports to be generated automatically.
A genuine operational management tool, it represents a strategic lever for guaranteeing ICPE compliance, securing site operations and preventing conflict situations with neighbors.

Regulatory and operational issues
Operators subject to regulatory requirements must be able to demonstrate control of their noise emissions, whether in terms of the indicators applicable to classified facilities or neighborhood issues.
This implies compliance with regulatory thresholds at property limits, control of noise emergence, traceability of acoustic events and the ability to justify the situation in the event of a complaint or inspection.
A lack of structured monitoring can expose the operator to non-compliance, formal notices or tensions with local residents. The implementation of a continuous acoustic monitoring system makes it possible to objectify the situation in real time, anticipate exceedances and take reactive action before the situation becomes critical.
Measuring and monitoring acoustic indicators
The monitoring device enables continuous measurement of the main acoustic indicators such as Leq, LAeq and other parameters required for regulatory analysis. Features include :
- measurement of overall and frequency sound levels
- calculation of noise dose over sliding, daily or weighted daily periods
- monitoring of regulatory indicators applicable to neighborhoods and ICPEs
Data is visualized via a color-coded interface, making it easy to quickly identify compliant or critical situations.
Event detection and audio recording
In addition to simply monitoring sound levels, the monitoring system includes a function for automatically triggering audio recordings on the basis of predefined, customizable thresholds. Each exceedance is thus captured and documented, making it possible to qualify the nature of the noise measured, distinguish between internal and external sources, and provide factual evidence in the event of a dispute.
Triggers can be configured according to multiple criteria, including the possibility of forced triggering via SMS. The system also automatically recognizes and counts sound events, providing complete traceability of all recorded acoustic occurrences.

Real-time alert system
The device incorporates a configurable alert system to inform operators in real time. Alerts can be sent by SMS, e-mail or configurable pre-alerts.
Triggers can be defined according to multiple criteria (sound level, duration, schedule, combination of indicators), enabling proactive management of risk situations.
Web interface and data processing
All the data collected is accessible via a secure web interface and a dedicated website, from which it is possible to view acoustic indicators in real time, listen to audio recordings associated with detected events, remotely control sensors and access the entire acoustic database.
Automatic report generation completes the system, facilitating internal communication and the transmission of supporting information to authorities or stakeholders.Applications and contexts
Acoustic monitoring applies to industrial sites, logistics platforms, energy infrastructures or any facility subject to regulatory or environmental constraints.
It can be implemented as a complement to one-off acoustic studies, or as a permanent environmental monitoring and control system.A monitoring solution for compliance and transparency
Continuous acoustic monitoring is a structuring tool for controlling the noise impact of installations over the long term. By combining regulatory measurement, event detection, real-time alerts and centralized data processing, SIM Engineering offers an approach geared to compliance, responsiveness and traceability.
This approach enables operators to secure their business, enhance transparency vis-à-vis stakeholders and make noise management part of a controlled, sustainable environmental strategy.
