Engine Exhaust Design
Acoustic and mechanical design of Diesel & Gas engine exhaust
With the help of ANSYS Acoustics, a powerful finite element software, the acoustical performance of the exhaust silencer is optimised using acoustical filtering methods.
The calculations also address the flow pressure drops that contribute to the overall performance of the system.
Using a beam element analysis software, the expansion joints are designed and the supporting (including flexible mounts) is optimised against the following possible loads:
- Gravity
- Thermal expansion
- Engine vibration excitation
- Fatigue, operation and proof “g” loading for transportation application
- Wind loads for standing application
- Seismic loads for standing application
